Thierry B Fine Arts: Winter Blues
Feeling like curling up with a enthralling novel in front of the fireplace? Not yet officially winter, my bones have already felt the drop in temperatures overnight enough for me to pull out the heavy duvet and snug throws I love to wrap myself in at such a time. It is hearty soup weather and time to enjoy nesting at home surrounded by all your most precious family and friends in a space that feels inviting and welcoming.
A recent installation at a clients’ beach haven, saw me up the Mornington peninsula, some of the most spectacular coastline you’ll ever see – to be greeted by the couples’ his and hers rottweiler pups, Boris and Natasha – made me feel clucky! Above I’ve attached the image seen in situ placed behind the communal dining area.
Aside from the family’s request that we incorporate many elements from Mother Nature, and a cool toned palette, the brief was only limited by my imagination – fantastic! I included a couple from my Coral series which they love, as well as two large paintings of a water motif and spiralling piece to add movement and some spikes of stronger colour. My restraint with the subtle layers of blue tones worked well and had them enraptured with their new space.
